The first contribution is the hardware design of the sensor nodes. Our contributions to this project are two-fold. In collaboration with the City of Calgary, we are developing a network of low-cost acoustic sensors to enable continuous monitoring of noise in the urban environment. Bylaws aim to reduce the amount of noise pollution in a city, but noise assessments and monitoring are performed infrequently and are complaint-driven. The negative health effects of excess noise include disruptions to sleep & relaxation, hearing loss, psychological & cognitive disorders, and high blood pressure. In some cities, studies have estimated that 9 in 10 people are exposed daily to noise levels exceeding international guidelines. Dr.Noise pollution is a persistent problem for residents in an urban environment. These range from standard dental treatments to complex rehabilitation of worn dentition, edentulism and dental implant therapy. These additional residencies places emphasis on treating a wide variety of patient conditions. Chu completed a Prosthodontic residency at University of Toronto. To further improve her skill and knowledge, Dr. Rosemary Chu received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry at McGill University and completed her Advanced Education in General Dentistry at University of Connecticut Health Center. Wong takes pride in providing a high level of treatment by extensively training his technical skills along with continuously updating his knowledge through continuing education courses.ĭoctor of Dental Surgery, University of Western Ontarioĭr. The opportunity to make a significant impact on the health and well-being of patients is his favourite aspect of dentistry.ĭr. Wong ultimately decided on Prosthodontics as the best path to providing optimal quality of care for patients. After shadowing different specialists during dental school to gain a better understanding of the field, Dr. Wong was drawn to the dental field because of the unique combination of health care, hands-on work, and artistry. Wong is focused on patient centered care through comprehensive treatment planning to provide predictable and long-term results.ĭr. She has taught Prosthodontics to both graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Toronto and was a staff Prosthodontist in the Implant Prosthodontic Unit at the Faculty.
In addition, she also holds a Masters of Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh with a special interest in gerontology. Leung received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto and did her general practice residency at the Boston Medical Center. She is also a Diplomate in Prosthodontics in the United States and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists.ĭr. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a registered Prosthodontist in this country. Leung is a board-certified Prosthodontist who received her specialist education at the University of Pittsburgh.
